Nihari word originated from Arabic word "Nahar" that means "morning". The dish was originally prepared for Mughal Empire as a breakfast item. Today, Nihari got very popular dish and is eaten as a breakfast, lunch as well as dinner. Nihari can be cooked with chicken, goat, and lamb, but it is said to taste the best when cooked with beef shank with bones.
